Friday’s Fave Five

FFF daisies
It’s Friday, time to look back over the blessings of the week with Susanne at Living to Tell the Story and other friends.

I don’t know where this week has gone! Without these few moments to reflect on it and remember some highlights, it would be gone from memory, too.

1. Grandparents Day last Sunday. Jason, Mittu, and Timothy brought over a cake, flowers for great-grandma and me, snacks and a personally-drawn, one-of-a-kind piece of artwork made by Timothy for Granddad. 🙂

2. Three nights off from cooking is unusual! I asked for one and my husband offered the other two.

3. Getting plants shaped up. Jim does the yard work, but I try to keep up with the planters and roses. They were badly in need of deadheading and a little snipping. I think our hanging baskets are about done, but a couple of petunias there are staging a final showing.

4. Small victories and answers to prayer, just between God and myself.

5. Using gift cards at Hobby Lobby and starting a new project. Just when I am going to work on it, I don’t know. Here’s a sneak peak:

  1. Oh what lovely things you had. The cake looks delicious. Lovely material. Will be interested to hear what your project is. 3 nights free from cooking is always good. Have a good weekend.

  2. What a wonderful grandparents day. I was going to finish up a post on that, but my computer broke and I didn’t get to it. Did someone in your family make that cake? What a beaut,
That must have felt good to deadhead and cut back your flowers. I always enjoy that task. My plants are just about at the end of their flowering time, too.
Hurray for small victories and answers to prayer, We have such a faithful, loving God.
I am not so good at using my gift cards. How fun to have a new project. The materials are lovely. Maybe you are making new curtains?
    Have a blessed week.

  3. Oh wow!!! That cake!!! Love the flowers and picture from your grandson…super cute!
That’s such pretty material…..i really like paisley.

Praise God for answers to prayer and victories!!

    Happy weekend, Barbara

  4. I too am thankful for those last flowers that give a little show as their baskets dry up. 😊 I have a creeping Clematis that has suddenly presented 5-6 lovely pink blooms! Also, I love the fabric you picked out at Hobby Lobby. What will you use it for? Have a blessed weekend!

  5. What I really like is that pretty paper plate next to the chocolate cake!! Are those commonly available? I’ve used a lot of paper plates ever since my surgery a year ago, and love the pretty ones.

  6. I loved reading your favorites from the week…and these words, “Without these few moments to reflect on it and remember some highlights, it would be gone from memory, too.” really made an impression on me. Makes me stop and wonder how many things do go unremembered just because I don’t take time to stop and think.

That is SOME CAKE! Oh my…and you have such a thoughtful family…the flowers are beautiful and I loved the hand-drawn picture from Timothy to his granddad. That boy is so sweet!

I hope you have a lovely weekend.

  7. Yummy chocolate cake! What a nice treat. The blue fabric looks beautiful! I can’t wait to see what you turn it into. I’m so glad that you have had answers to prayers. Have a blessed day.

  8. I’m the. one who does the yard work because I enjoy it. As for snipping the roses–I could loan you the deer than have been eating ALL the flowers from mine!
How sweet to get those notes and cake from Timothy!
Love that fabric and the best part is that it was ‘free’

Let me know what you think. I'd love to hear from you, but please keep it civil. Thanks!
