E-Mom at Chrysalis hosts a Marriage Monday every month and this month the topic is our testimonies.  I wrote mine previously here and invite you there to read further.

  1. I’ll comment on this post, since I notice you have over forty on the other!

My eyes have welled up more than once as I read and identified with parts of your story. Parents who were divorcing when ours did had no idea what they were putting their kids through. Of course (sadly) now divorce is commonplace and “just expected” that children would live such disjointed lives. How grateful I am to be rescued from such worldly ways of thinking.

Like you, I clung to this verse: “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” So glad you trusted that God work beauty from the ugliness you tasted at such a young age.

Your story is far more dramatic than mine, as you had a move and all those life adustments to make in addition to the break-up of your family. I suppose you became wise beyond your young years, as is often the case when children survive such trauma.

I wonder if you wrestled with your security in Christ as a result of your emotional injuries from the divorce and your father’s alcoholism. It’s said that we do transfer our perceptions of our parents onto God.

By all accounts, the Lord rebuilt you from the ground up, as evidenced by your solid family life and marriage in adulthood. There really can be new life in Him… with His precious Word is our source of Truth.

Thank you for joining us for Marriage Monday today, Barbara.

    Blessings, e-Mom ღ
