Friday’s Feast # 129

Friday’s Feast is a “buffet for the brain,” designed to “feed your mind by asking thought-provoking, mind-stimulating questions.”

What was one of the fashion fads when you were a teenager?

Disco suits, leisure suits, bell-bottom pants, Gunne Sax dresses, blue chambray work-type shirts with embroidery on them (that’s more than one, I realize). Yes, I was a teen in the 70s.

Name one thing you think people assume about you when they first meet you.

Hmmm. I don’t know about now, but years ago friends told me that when they first met me, they thought I was stuck up. 😦 Actually I was just shy and quiet and didn’t know what to say. I think that’s probably the case with most people who are thought to be “stuck up.” The Lord’s helped me greatly in that area, but that’s my “default setting.”

On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being highest, how hard do you work?

Well — I would like to say a consistent 10. But there are times I don’t work to capacity. It depends a lot on the task, the time and energy available, the interest level sometimes, etc. There are times it’s in the 8-10 level, and other times on the lower end of the scale — so I guess I’ll average it out and say maybe 6 or 7? This was a hard question for the brutally honest!

Main Course
If you were given a free 30-second commercial during the Super Bowl to sell anything you currently own, what would you advertise?

My digital camera, maybe.

Edited to add: I may have misunderstood this question. I was thinking of something I liked, that I considered valuable. But the question may mean something you want to get rid of. In that case — I don’t know if I have anything that the Super Bowl crowd would be interested. in. 🙂

Fill in the blank: I love to __sleep__ when it is ___raining___.

  1. omg! I totally forgot about Gunne Sax dresses!!

I’ll never forget my favorite one – it has a HUGE ruffle running around the neckline / bodice. Boy, I thought I was hot stuff in that dress. lol

  2. Great feast! Our soups are the same. I can be painfully shy in a public/social setting. I have to push myself to over come it. Sometimes I succeed and sometimes I don’t. I always feel badly when I don’t. I feel like I’ve put up a wall and people probably thought I was being stuck up again.

  3. some of my kids were teens in the Disco era. I had to work the Discos at the Hotel I worked for on the Big Island. Those were the crazy days! Lots of fun!

    Thanks for stopping by.

  4. I didn’t mean this is the first time I’m enjoying your posts–I’m feeling guilty about the amount of time I’m on the computer this morning away from my kid, and I mis-typed, clicked, and then read it and thought, “OH NO… that’ s NOT what I meant!” This is the first Friday Feast of yours that I’ve read!

I love hearing from you and will approve your comment ASAP.
