Several of you have asked for photos of the new house. Some of these are from the realtor’s listing and were taken when the house was empty. I wish I had gotten more of them — there were several, but they have been taken down now that the house has been sold. It is now full of boxes. I’ll probably repost pictures after we get things a bit more put away, but that will be a while.
But before we get to the house, this is a view of the mountains coming from SC to TN. I’ve often wished I could take pictures of the view, but can’t do so while driving, and there is no place to pull off the road to do so. Jesse took this while we whizzed by:
That is a little darkish as it was just before sunset, but still pretty with the clouds nestled down in the mountains.
OK. so here is the front of the house.
I don’t have a picture of this, but just as you come in there is a little area off to the left. It is not as big as a full-fledged living room but will make a nice little sitting area. When looking at so many houses with “great rooms,” we questioned whether we really needed a separate living and family room. But we decided it is nice to have one room with no media in it, where people or individuals and sit and talk or read or whatever, so that is what this will be.
To the right there are closets — no pictures, not very exciting to look at, but I love that there is so much storage — and the garage and a bathroom which I forgot to take a picture of.
Then as you proceed through the house, you come to the dining area and kitchen.
This I had shown before. I love that there is a little bar area — I have always wanted that. The little room behind the arch we will use as an office. There is a similar arch to the right entering to the family room and again to the left going down the hall to the bedrooms.
So here is the family room, unfurnished:
That is a gas log fireplace. I love the idea of just flipping a switch and having a fire without having to bring in firewood, stoke it, and sweep out ashes. This is a nice-sized room — to the right (not shown) we have the piano and bookcases (with a jungle of boxes in front of them right now).
This is a better view of the kitchen:
I. Love. My Kitchen. So many more cabinets and counter space than what I am used to!
This is a humongous pantry off the kitchen.
The laundry room is also off the kitchen, and this pic is a lived-in look!
The laundry room has this cool built-in ironing board. It’s too small for my things, but nice for quick touch-ups.
I don’t have pictures of the bedrooms — they are just rectangular rooms, all with the same beige walls and carpeting, one for us, Jesse, and a sewing/guest room. But here is the master bathroom — this is only the second time in our lives we have had a master bathroom, and I love it!
One of my favorite features in this bathroom are the towel racks:
Then there is a humongous walk-in closet:
There is not a lot of back yard space, but we’re not at a stage where we need it, and it is less to mow! There is a row of trees along the back of the property which gives the area a nice, private feel.
The garage has a place for two cars and then an area in back for a third car or small boat. Jim wants to turn that into a guest bedroom at some point.
So that gives you some idea. As I said, when we get unpacked and I get decorations up, etc., I’ll take more pictures. But that will definitely take a while longer.

Awesome! I cannot imagine how excited you must be about your new kitchen, esp. that pantry! I am so happy for you!
Beautiful house. That pantry is a winner and all that cabinet space. It will take a while to feel like home, but since the Lord is always with us where ever we move He makes us feel at home.
It is crazy just unpacking. I remember when I moved in my 40′s and my kids stayed in the city except the youngest. The oldest girl came and I was just sitting on boxes for the first time in my life not knowing where to start (it was a fixer house). The two girls just started in and before I knew it they had it figured out. I think I was going through the change then and everything was a little confusing and overwhelming. But the Lord was good and sent help. PRAISE HIS NAME!
It’s BEAUTIFUL! And I think that those towel racks TELL YOU that THIS is the house God chose for you! I really think that! That is AMAZING! I love the arched doorways — and the kitchen is gorgeous! Oh Barbara! I think you will be very VERY happy in this home! I hope Jason & Mittu find jobs and something very nearby that they are equally happy with in the not TOO far off future!
WOAH!!! That is a gorgeous house my friend. Looks like you are going to have plenty of room. I like Melli really like the arched doorways. And that mountain shot is just beautiful. How exciting for you all. I really like the outside as well. The look of the house is wonderful. I’m very happy for you all
I like the back splash on the side of the vanity…I can see why you like the towel holders…Your family room is similar to mine with the windows beside the fireplace although one of mine is a door and mine isn’t as long as yours. Thanks for sharing.

The house is beautiful. I’m glad you’re getting settled. After we moved in June, someone told us they still have stuff packed away from 8 years ago! It seems to take forever to get all unpacked and settled. Right now our sunroom looks pretty good but most of the stuff got “relocated” into the garage (can’t park in it b/c it has carpet). Ha, I noticed the Curel lotion, I use that too and I LOVE CF Diet Pepsi!
Nice, Barbara! I love that pantry. That’s something my house is lacking completely. The mountain view is gorgeous. What a lovely place to live!
Wow. Your new house is gorgeous and so much room. You will fill it with warm new memories.
I just love the kitchen area floor and those archways! And is that a fold-down ironing board? I’ve always wanted one of those! The towel racks are so sweet.
Thanks for the look-see. Praying that you’re settling in!
As I said on FB, I love your house too! I really am just so thrilled for you. Every little thing that you love about it reminds me that the Lord gave you exactly what you needed in a house. I pray you will be very happy in it!
Barbara! Those towel racks are so YOU!!! AND me! You know how we love pink!

Your new home is so beautiful! I love the flooring in the kitchen and dining room!
And the fireplace! My brother and sister-in-law have a remote-control fireplace! What will they think of next?!
When I saw “new house” on my blogroll, I got so excited!!! At last! Pictures!!
I continue to pray for you and your family and the moves that everyone is making, that the Lord will be with you, direct you, strengthen you and help you in every way! ((HUGS))
Barbara,
I have already told you I love that kitchen floor!! The towel racks are SO you — I’d bet they were the selling point!
Blessings.
No, not the selling point, but a nice added little blessing.
Wonderful house! I love that kitchen and dining room — and the towel racks. I can’t wait to see the place when you’re all moved in.
Your pantry looked a little too tidy and your landry room looked just right.
Will this home have a dedicated place for your crafts?
The pantry no longer looks that tidy as we put things into it.
Yes, there is a third bedroom that will be a craft/guest room. It is smaller than the one I had, though, so it will be a challenge to figure out how to place everything in there. But that’s down the road a bit after we get the other living areas set.
What a lovely home. And the picture of the mountains is glorious.
Oh that my closets looked so neat… Maybe we should move to force a reorganization.
I am lovin’ your pantry! NICE! Thanks for sharing…I love those little details!!
The house looks lovely!! I’m sure you’ll have it a “home” in no time!! I love the towel rack. It’s so you
Enjoy your new home and may it be filled with much happiness and many blessings!
[...] My new house! I could make a FFF just about it. I already wrote about it here, but to make a subset fave five, [...]
Wow, Barbara, what a beautiful home the Lord blesses you with. Love the kitchen and living room and those arches just make me swoon. I love those, they add so much character! Enjoy your new home!
That’s one big and beautiful house, Barbara! I had a blast just by looking at all the pictures. Thank you for sharing!
