1. How do you feel about “Gladiator” sandals, also called “Roman” or “Jesus” sandals? A fashion yea or nay?
(Shrug.) I wouldn’t wear them personally, but I don’t know whether they’re considered fashionable these days or not.
2. What is your favorite pizza?
Pepperoni and sausage.
3. There are plans in the works to sell roughly 1,000 items from Star Trek: The Experience in Las Vegas. This means you could buy Picard’s chair for your family room. If not a Star Trek item, what prop, background, set, etc. from what TV or movie would you buy if you could?
[Ex: Hurley's "I Love my Shih tzu" shirt from LOST, the plantation home "Tara" from Gone With the Wind, or Tracy's tambourine from the Partridge Family.]
The Anne of Green Gables House.
But if I couldn’t have the whole house, I’d take the little china shepherdess figurine from the Little House on the Prairie series. I love how that one little nicety offset the primitiveness of their home, and I like how in all their travels in the books, having that little figurine in each place made it feel homey.
4. Name a local food or restaurant that your area is famous for.
Well, our one most famous restaurant where presidential candidates and beauty pageant contestants stop by is unique to our town, and I don’t name my town here, so I can’t mention that one. I guess for restaurants I’d say Fatz Cafe as they are only in the Southeast. As for a particular food, probably grits as a general Southern thing, or peaches for SC. I’m told we produce more peaches than the “peach state” of GA.
5. What is your current favorite snack?
Chips Ahoy mini chocolate chip cookies.
6. Hypothetical: You are required to be a reality show contestant. Which show would you choose based on your probability of success? (You cannot choose “none.”)
A. Dancing with the Stars
B. Biggest Loser
C. Survivor
Well, I’ve written before about how I could not be a contestant on the Biggest Loser, but of those options, that’s the only one I could see myself on and the only one I’d have any chance at. I’d like the training and the education but not the being away from home and the yelling. The one my family would like to do is the Amazing Race, but I would have to cheer them on from home.
7. On a scale of 1-10, with 1 being uninhabitable and 10 being cleanliness that meets the standards of OCD, how clean is your vehicle’s interior?
Maybe about a 5 right now. It needs vacuuming and dusting and has a basketful of trash in it.
8. It doesn’t feel like Spring until _________.
The daffodils bloom, though sometimes they jump the gun and bloom early.
9. Something that made you laugh really hard recently is ____.
This morning my dog and a bird out there somewhere were making noises at each other. It took a minute for me to recognize the back-and-forth pattern of their noises, then I cracked up.
10. Tell me about a goal you’re working toward.
My Spring Reading Thing list.
11. Share a thought-provoking or inspiring quote this week.
I shared one Monday about an illustration from a modern potter. The main sentence that impacted me was “Both my hands shaped this pot. And the place where it actually forms is a place of tension between the pressure applied from the outside and the pressure of the hand on the inside.” More on that thought here, but the idea of God’s sustaining grace on the inside keeping us not only from collapsing from the pressure from life on the outside, but the tension between those two pressures actually forming us — I am still mulling that over.
12. Name one thing that you do as a parent that you absolutely know will make your kids happy. If you’re not a parent, feel free to substitute “friend” or nomenclature that works for you.
Making chocolate chip cookies? Offering to get pizza for dinner? Telling them I am letting them out of the chores I had planned for them?

Ohhhhhh no! Now I need to KNOW where the presidents candidates stop!
That’s not FAIR! LOL!
#5 — as soon as I read that I could TASTE them! LOL!
#11 — definitely an intriguing concept worth contemplating. He is the potter and we are the clay ….
