1. Tell me the absolute best way to watch a movie.
At home with my family with my feet up and something to drink close by.
2. Do you ever think about your own funeral? If so, do you have specific ideas about how you would like it to be?
I’ve only thought about a song or two I want to have (“Safe In the Arms of Jesus” is one), a poem I’d like to have read (“Afraid? Of What?“) and a passage from Pilgrim’s Progress read where Christian is crossing the river just before reaching the Celestial City.
I hadn’t thought of Scripture verses for it yet, but two that I like to think about in regard to death are:
John 11:25: Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.
and
John 17:24: Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.
3. Are you more of a giver or a taker?
Very searching questions this week! It depends on what exactly we’re talking about giving and taking, but in all honesty…I’m more of a taker and less of a giver, and I need to reverse those.
4. Vacations: planned activities and schedules, or play it by ear?
A little of both. I don’t think anyone in our family would want an excessively planned and scheduled vacation, but if you don’t do some planning, you end up wasting time and opportunities.
5. What is one often overlooked item in your home that needs to be cleaned regularly?
Baseboards. Frequently when I am sweeping or vacuuming I notice they need attention, but except for a quick swipe I don’t often get to them.
6. Name a cause that means a lot to you.
I don’t want to sound trite or sound like I am saying this just to sound pious, but honestly, the cause of Christ outweighs anything else in importance — knowing Him and making Him known. There might be other causes I might sometimes contribute to or volunteer for, but they are all secondary.
7. Do you eat a regular old peanut butter jelly sandwich, or do you customize it? And by the way, jelly or no jelly?
I don’t often eat peanut butter and jelly, but I do like peanut butter toast sometimes, no jelly. It’s a quick, non-heavy way to get some protein in. And if anyone in our family does have PB&J, the peanut butter has to go on both slices of bread to keep the jelly from soaking through.
8. If we were having a conversation in person, how would I know if you were nervous?
By my frequent excusing myself to go to the bathroom.
9. Do you have an elaborate bedtime routine, or just the basics of toothbrushing and jammies?
Not too elaborate. I usually take a couple of my prescription medications before bed, just because I don’t usually think about them earlier in the evening, and because they have to be taken with food, I usually have a few grapes or some other kind of fruit with them. Then I check to make sure all the doors are locked — even if someone else already has, even if I checked them earlier. Then I say goodnight to Jeremy if he is still up and look in on Jesse and turn off his desk lamp. Jim is usually already asleep by the time I go to bed. Then toothbrushing and jammies, then the evening reading of Daily Light, then lights out. If Jim isn’t in bed yet, I’ll put the radio on sleep mode for an hour. Sometimes I pray as I am going to sleep, sometimes I think, sometimes I just drift off. So I guess it is a little more involved than I thought.
10. Have you ever regretted something you wrote on your blog?
Yes, but I can’t remember what now.
11. Has anyone ever told you that you look like a famous person or celebrity? Did you agree?
Nope.
12. If you were going to dedicate a song to a loved one or friend, what would the song be and to whom would it be dedicated?
“And I Love You So” to my husband. No one sings it like Perry Como.

Baseboards? Phooey, now I have to check mine…
Like you, once I wrote out my bedtime routine, it ended up sounding a lot more involved than I thought. Fun to read your answers and visit your blog!
Great answers. I think #10 we have all done a time or to. The video is excellent. Great choice
Have a great day
Good answers, Barbara!
I don’t remember writing anything on the blog that I would regret later but I have a feeling there’re one or two posts like that…
Baseboards. Mine get swiped at at least weekly but here in this land of humidity and continually open windows, they gather dust daily.
Nice song. I listened from beginning to end. I think the last time I heard Perry Como my grandmother was still alive! He was in his 70s when he recorded this and his voice was still full and firm!
Great answers, Barbara. Glad to see that the first person to do the meme was so honest in #3. Me too.
#4 is exactly is exactly how I would guess that you would answer the question because you are very practical but not “uptight.” Am I an old hippie for using that word?
Love the song choice, and I have to go see the poem.
I meant number 4 about being practical.
Baseboards? We’re supposed to do something to baseboards?
Thoughtful answers! Thanks!
Great answers. First time visitor here. I came over from Lid’s blog.
great answers! Baseboards…that’s what I should have written…see I didn’t even think of them when I was answering the questions.
Your answers to number 2 were good and got me thinking today.
What do you mean baseboards need cleaning? Who knew? ;v)
The bestest answer for #6!
LOL! I had a friend several years back who cleaned homes for a living. She was over visiting one day and she said “Melli… you’re baseboards are always sO clean!” I was absolutely STUNNED! I didn’t know what to say… other than thank you… but then she told me that people who clean houses ALWAYS notice the baseboards… because that IS an area that is usually forgotten. I have to admit that though I’ve never cleaned houses… (rarely even my own!) I DO notice baseboards! Now nobody will EVER want me to come to their house again! LOL!
I loved your answer to number 6 – and I think it should be all of our answers. MY answer to it is definitely in His name!
Oh, I miss Perry Como!
BTW: medicine taken with food … grapes would not suffice. Try a 1/2 glass of milk. The idea is to protect your stomach. Fruit is acidic.
Hmm… I should have put baseboards, too …
I like your #6. I wish I would have thought of that!
Gee, thanks for reminding me about the baseboards.
I decided to participate too.
Barbara, I swear we must be related because we are so much alike!
And that is a good thing!
I love your honesty and candor!
Ugh, baseboards! Could have put that on mine as well.
Love that old Perry Como song.
What a great song!
Liked your answer regarding vacations — read it to my hubby
Instead of baseboards, which this shorty girl sees a lot, I miss the cobwebs in the corner.
1st time here from 2nd Cup.
What a fun post, Barbara. I actually do think and plan my funeral… can’t help it since I am such a planner.
Barbara, hearing and seeing Perry Como singing that song made me absolultely weep this evening. I just love the old, romantic standards. Makes me want to snuggle with my honey. Thanks for sharing.
I checked out the poem Afraid? Of What? loved it!
I used to do baseboards, but then I used to do a lot of things that I don’t bother much with these days. They get a quick swipe and I get back to the important things in life, like the computer! (It gets an occasional swipe too!)
