Putting our “resident strong one” (as Beth Moore calls them) up on a pedestal is a mistake we often make.

I struggled with this. My Dad is “my resident strong one” he is the one I alway wents to first, I took advice he gave to heart (still do). But guess who the Lord moved clear across the US away from my Dad? Yep, Me. During that time I had to get use to relying on ONLY GOD. I should go to God first, not man. But then God does gives us people to help us, to encourage us, to strengthen us, but they are never to take the place of #1 in your heart. Man will always fail us, God will not.
